The Burn is a 20-bedroomed Mansion House, Listed Grade B belonging to Goodenough College situated near the spectacular North Esk river.  It operates as an academic retreat for post-graduates but is also privately hired out as a unique venue for celebrations and holiday accommodation.

We are looking for an organised and people-focused House Manager. This role is key in ensuring every guest at The Burn enjoys outstanding hospitality, immaculate accommodation, and a memorable welcome throughout their stay. This full‑time role offers a salary of £32,000 per annum and includes evening and weekend work as part of a rota, with onsite accommodation provided when covering overnight duties.

As House Manager, you will play a key part in ensuring our guests enjoy high standards of accommodation, a warm welcome, and consistently excellent service throughout their stay. You will oversee the day‑to‑day work of our Housekeeping Assistants and support the Operations Manager in delivering smooth guest arrivals, departures, and general front‑of‑house coordination. The role is hands‑on and varied, ideal for someone who enjoys being involved in everything from room standards to guest communication and operational problem‑solving.

Applicants should be experienced in managing rotas, supporting staff, and communicating with guests in a professional and welcoming manner. Strong organisational and administrative skills are essential, as is the ability to adapt to changing demands with a calm and proactive approach.

Please refer to the full Job Description and Person Specification for full details on responsibilities, essential experience, and expectations for the role.

How to apply

Please submit your CV, and a short covering letter, stating why you would like to apply and how you meet the essential criteria in the job description and person specification, to: Zakiyah Kihl at jobs@goodenough.ac.uk by 12pm on 26 March 2026.

Interviews will be conducted at The Burn and you will need your own transport due to the rural, remote location of The Burn.
